Honorary Member recognizes a non-member who is actively engaged in activities that, on a day-to-day basis, promote GardenComm’s mission and values on a national level. This individual’s efforts reflect the highest ideals of the organization.
Dr. Charlie Hall is a Professor and Endowed Chair in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Texas A&M University. Though an economist by training, Charlie grew up on a nursery business in western NC and one of his degrees is horticulture, so –as he puts it – he can speak both languages (horticulture and economics).
Of all the things he has done over his 37 years in academic so far, Charlie says he most proud of creating the EAGL program, an executive-MBA styled program designed specifically for nursery and greenhouse growers, as well as the founding the Your MarketMetrics™ benchmarking program for the green industry. Dr. Hall is an invited speaker at numerous regional, national, and international meetings of various industry-related associations and organizations. He is particularly known for the enthusiasm, passion, and the intensity he exhibits when speaking.
