The GardenComm Media Awards is the only national online media awards program for the gardening communications industry. Held annually for more than 20 years, the GardenComm Media Awards have recognized the top professional horticultural communicators in the areas of writing, photography, speaking, digital media, broadcast media, publisher/producer and trade.
This year's program features over 50 categories across 7 disciplines (view here.) All works primarily focused on horticulture and gardening topics are eligible. All individuals, companies and publishers may enter. GardenComm membership is not required, but does qualify entrants for discounted entry fees.
Awards will be given at two levels: Silver Awards of Achievement and Gold Awards for Best Talent or Best Product, representing the best of each artistic category and the best of each product. Silver Awards will be announced June 2021. More information regarding the Awards announcement will be posted soon.
The four new categories added in 2020 will be available again in 2021. They include: Writing: Marketing, Writing: Trade Column, Writing: Trade Article and Photography: Blogging.
Submit more than 2 entries and receive $10 off for each additional submission. Discount applies to members and non-members. Discount applied at checkout.
SUBMISSIONS
Award entries should be submitted in a digital format. However, books and magazines entered in the publishing categories are encouraged to be submitted in BOTH their digital and original published forms.
For all BOOK and Calendar ENTRIES, please send two copies to Ellen Zachos, Media Awards Co-Chair, 714 Gregory Lane, Santa Fe, NM 87505. If you are entering the same book or
calendar in multiple categories, please do not send more than two copies. Digital links should only be submitted for e-book categories.
For MAGAZINE ENTRIES (Publisher Category Only), please upload a digital link, NOT a pdf.
ELIGIBILITY
Only works first published and copyrighted between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020 are eligible for entry. The official copyright date will be the eligibility determinant.
You do not need to be a GardenComm member to enter. Any writer, editor, publisher, producer, company, etc. may enter. Fees will be based upon the membership status of the award recipient only. GardenComm reserves the right to determine an entry ineligible if it is inconsistent with the goals and objectives of the organization. Entrants who submit a work in the wrong category will be asked to move it to the correct one.
DEADLINES
Entries received before March 2, 2021, are eligible for a special early-bird discount ($25 savings), and all entries must be received no later than March 31, 2021. Late entries will not be accepted.
JUDGING
A jury of professionals, selected for their experience, expertise and genre perspective, will be assembled to evaluate all entries. While judges may submit entries, they cannot submit entries in any category which they will judge in either the silver or gold rounds. Top entries from the first round of judging will be eligible for Silver Awards. The second round of judging, to determine Gold Awards, will include only Silver Award-winning entries.
