Kirk has served on many committees for GardenComm, the American Nursery and Landscape Association, and the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association. His lectures have received outstanding accolades from audiences and peers. He has done everything from keynote presentations to conference sessions, including the GWA Annual Symposium. Currently, he is touring the country with two other gentlemen giving first person lectures as America’s Master Gardener, John Bartram and the country’s leading landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. His many other lectures include programs focusing on the issues of sustainability and liveable landscapes. Kirk also teaches many of the certified classes for the National Garden Club’s Landscape Design Schools. He instructs dedicated amateurs and industry professionals in landscape design basics at Northampton Community College. Kirk has enjoyed his connectional membership with GardenComm, filling a variety of roles including:
- Several terms as a Regional and National Director for Region II.
- Brandywine Valley Symposium Local Arrangements Committee
- Program Chairman: Pittsburgh and Pasadena Symposium
- Past Chairman: GardenComm Membership Committee
- Board Liaison: GardenComm Sustainability Initiative Committee, Association Outreach Task Force
- Numerous subcommittee and task force assignments
- Planned, organized, budgeted, and ran more than 35 regional meetings nation-wide
